The Buckeye Bucks will square off against the Letcher County Central Cougars at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Wednesday, it was close, but Buckeye sidestepped Blazer for a 6-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bucks.
Buckeye got a great performance from Olivia Piovarchy as she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cassy Minarchick, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Morano, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Letcher County Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Independence on Tuesday.
Scarlett Stamper made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Katie Combs was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Kaily Bentley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
The victory got Letcher County Central back to even at 4-4. As for Buckeye, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
