Providence Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the King's Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Providence Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Providence Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Clayton-Bradley Academy 47-23.
It was another big night for Kinley Painter, who scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Providence Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Caldwell, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, King's Academy humbled First Baptist Academy with a 91-12 victory. With that win, King's Academy brought their scoring average up to 56.5 points per game.
King's Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Skylar Walden led the charge by scoring 25 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. The contest was Walden's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Branam, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Providence Academy's victory bumped their season record to 7-5 while Clayton-Bradley Academy's loss dropped theirs to 2-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Providence Academy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for King's Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 8.3 per game. Given Providence Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, King's Academy will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Providence Academy came up short against King's Academy in their previous matchup back in February, falling 70-59. Thankfully for Providence Academy, Juleigh Anne Tucker (who scored 22 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
