West Point hasn't had much luck against Tolleson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dragons will welcome the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. West Point has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
West Point lost 15-5 to Marana on Wednesday.
Zerianna Gomez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Meanwhile, Tolleson waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 17-1 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilliana Reyes looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Jada Rubalcava was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Marina Lara was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Tolleson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in six consecutive games.
Tolleson pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Point, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Point has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .532. However, it's not like Tolleson struggles in that department as they've averaged .516. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Point might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Tolleson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Dragons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
