Softball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Fair Grove

Fair Grove waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Reeds Spring Wolves get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Aubrie Voorhis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Voorhis was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Fair Grove got a massive performance out of Hali Stokes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Stokes is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Brooke Daniels was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Fair Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fair Grove's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Reeds Spring, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Coming up, Fair Grove will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Springfield Catholic at 5:00 p.m. As for Reeds Spring, they are taking a road trip to square off against Galena at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
