Taft has gone 9-1 against Stevens recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Taft's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Stevens' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
If Taft beats Stevens with six runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Raiders put the hurt on Holmes with a sharp 6-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Raiders have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Camilla Hernandez, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Holmes off the board.
At the plate, Kaylee Sanchez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Madison White was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Stevens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Holmes. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (ten), the Falcons still had to take the loss.
Jesselle Pardo led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Sofia Solis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Taft's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
Stevens' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Taft has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Stevens, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.1 strikeouts. Will Taft keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Everything went Taft's way against Stevens when the teams last played back in February, as Taft made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
