Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask IMG Academy Black). They put the hurt on the Gulf Coast Sharks with a sharp 17-2 victory on Monday. The Ascenders' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Daiki Mochizuki looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, IMG Academy Black got a massive performance out of Sebastian Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Nate Lynn, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

IMG Academy Black kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

IMG Academy Black's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Gulf Coast, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

IMG Academy Black will take on Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 327 places (3 vs. 330). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (IMG Academy Black: 2.7, Gulf Coast: 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Gulf Coast (ranked 150th) will meet Golden Gate (ranked 494th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
