Softball Recap: Hanover Central Wins Going Away Against Hebron

Hanover Central barely beat Hebron the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Hawks on Thursday. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Claire Edgerton tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sienna Antkiewicz was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Brooklyn Oostman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Hanover Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron only posted a batting average of .318.

The victory made it two in a row for Hanover Central and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Hebron, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Hanover Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-2 victory against Glenn on the 10th. As for Hebron, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 defeat against South Central on the 9th.
