After flying high against the Coral Gables Cavaliers last Wednesday, the Braddock Bulldogs came back down to earth. Braddock took a serious blow against Southridge on Monday, falling 70-39. While losing is never fun, Braddock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Southridge is ranked 36th).
Despite the loss, Braddock still got an impressive performance from Elsa Stier, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Stier is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Anna Rubiera was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Leading Southridge to victory were Dianka Hardisson and Naya Hardisson. Hardisson scored 26 points along with five rebounds, while Hardisson almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hardisson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Unique Horton, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Braddock's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Southridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Braddock will head out on the road to take on Southwest at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
