The Northridge Vikings will be playing at home against the Lakewood Lancers at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, Northridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Johnstown-Monroe. Northridge has struggled against Johnstown-Monroe recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Northridge saw an underclassman step up: Ava Travis scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Comisford, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Lakewood came up short against Utica on Friday and fell 53-43.
Northridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Northridge lost to Lakewood at home by a decisive 55-39 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lakewood's Charlee Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds.
