The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 16th straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-30 walloping at the hands of Churchill. SA Roosevelt has not had much luck with Churchill recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, SA Roosevelt saw an underclassman step up: Maddison Castillo scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Churchill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daphne Zuniga, who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Alina Hernandez, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
SA Roosevelt dropped their record down to 5-24 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Churchill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Brandeis the next time they take the court. Churchill will head out to face Brandeis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while SA Roosevelt will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
