Basketball Recap: Parkway Christian Takes a Loss

Parkway Christian lost against Lutheran back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Parkway Christian Eagles had to suffer through a 66-31 loss at the hands of the Lutheran Warriors. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

Despite the defeat, Parkway Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Angelina Marchesi dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marchesi has scored all season. Tamerah Peterson was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Parkway Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Becky Reddeman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 13 boards for Lutheran. Reddeman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 33 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lillian Fremder, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Parkway Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Hope Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Parkway Christian will head out to face Hope Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lutheran will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.
