Softball Recap: Geneseo Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Geneseo waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Newark Norsemen 7-1. Considering the Maple Leafs have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendyl Wassenhove spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madisyn Buysse was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Brown, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Geneseo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Geneseo's record now sits at 17-6. As for Newark, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneseo will challenge East Moline United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Newark, they will take on Serena at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
