Football Recap: Western Guilford Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Western Guilford extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Timothy (Tim) Baker. The Hornets took down the Thomasville Bulldogs 28-14 on Friday for which the team can thank Baker, who rushed for 158 yards and one TD while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 62 yards.

Western Guilford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jermiah Dotson. Another thorn in Thomasville's side was Xavier Washington, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Western Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Thomasville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Guilford will face off against Ben L. Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Hornets their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Thomasville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th.
