Even though the Fox Tech Buffaloes scored an imposing 67 points on Thursday, the Pearsall Mavericks still came out on top. Pearsall narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Fox Tech 70-67. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pearsall.
Xavier Rendon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pearsall's points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Woodard, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Fox Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rene Morgan, who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Morgan continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jonah DeLaRosa was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 3 steals.
Pearsall is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Fox Tech, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Pearsall will take on Harlandale at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fox Tech is on the road again on Friday and play against San Antonio Memorial at 9:30 a.m. on December 8th. San Antonio Memorial is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
