When it comes to explaining why Hardaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mekhi Benton. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with four steals. The contest was Benton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lamell Mims, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Key?shaun Sampton, who scored 15 points for Spencer. Gary Gaither was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Hardaway's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Spencer, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
