The Satellite Scorpions suffered their closest loss yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Space Coast by a score of 41-39. Satellite lost against Space Coast in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-24 score last time.
Several Scorpions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyna Lora, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Keira Merrick, who scored six points along with four steals.
Space Coast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Hill led the charge by scoring ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lashiya Walker, who scored eight points.
Satellite has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Space Coast, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Satellite will challenge Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Space Coast, they will head out on the road to square off against Titusville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Titusville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Space Coast is ranked 248th).
