Georgetown is 2-8 against Loris since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Georgetown Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Loris Lions at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Georgetown and three for Loris.
Georgetown suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 48-8 defeat at the hands of Waccamaw.
Meanwhile, Loris was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 43-37 to Carvers Bay. That's two games in a row now that Loris has lost by exactly six points.
Despite the loss, Loris had strong showings from Janiya Richburg, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, and LaKeya Martin, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Richburg is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Even though they lost, Loris smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carvers Bay only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
Georgetown bumped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Loris, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Georgetown took a serious blow against Loris in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 61-29. Can Georgetown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
