With a playoff game on the line, the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 35-14 victory. St. Augustine's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
St. Augustine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devonte Lyons out in front who rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Lyons is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Locklan Hewlett, who threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Although Dunbar took the loss, they still got scores from Eric Fletcher and Twaski Abrams.
St. Augustine has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record. As for Dunbar, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.
St. Augustine will face off against Mainland at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mainland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Dunbar does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
