Wayland-Cohocton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Bauer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Bauer has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.
Meanwhile, Geneseo waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mount Morris a 10-0 shutout. Geneseo not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 14-3).
Oren Ray was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Milne, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Geneseo's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Wayland-Cohocton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wayland-Cohocton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Geneseo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wayland-Cohocton got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Geneseo by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
