Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Center Grove

Center Grove won the last time they faced Bloomington North and things went their way on Saturday too. Everything went the Center Grove Trojans' way against the Bloomington North Cougars as the Center Grove Trojans made off with a 48-22 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Center Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Grant out in front who posted 13 points and six steals. That's the most steals Grant has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Gracyn Gilliard, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Bloomington North saw an underclassman step up: freshman Katharine Lehr had 12 points and three steals. Lehr is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played.

The win (which was Center Grove's third in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Bloomington North, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center Grove will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Knox at 10:00 a.m. on January 2, 2025. Bloomington North and Lafayette Jefferson will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
