The Beaver Bobcats waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against North Catholic by a score of 69-61. The victory was all the more spectacular given Beaver's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while North Catholic is ranked 83rd).
Beaver got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ty Butler out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Brady Mayo was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Beaver pushed their record up to 12-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for North Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaver will square off against Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Beaver's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. North Catholic will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. North Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,431 points over their last 19 matchups.
