The Eden Raiders lost to the Christian Central Academy Crusaders back in January of 2016, but the Eden Raiders didn't allow the Christian Central Academy Crusaders the same satisfaction on Friday. Eden enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over Christian Central Academy. Given Eden's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Christian Central Academy is ranked 788th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eden had a senior duo take command as Mike Weyland scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Taesyn Slating dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weyland has scored all season. Brady Mason was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six assists and three steals.
Eden's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Christian Central Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Eden will play host again and welcome Kennedy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy and Eden are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Christian Central Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th.
