The Macksville Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Stafford for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-28 victory at home. That looming 73-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Macksville yet this season.
Macksville was led to victory by Isabela Ortiz and Mayce Russell. Ortiz dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, while Russell scored 19 points along with seven steals. Ortiz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Laney Butler was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Despite the loss, Stafford still got an impressive performance from Ines Garcia, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Stafford struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Macksville racked up 15 assists.
Macksville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Stafford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Macksville will head out on the road to face off against Cunningham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cunningham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Macksville is ranked 82nd). Stafford will be home for the holidays to greet Centre at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Centre is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
