The Weedsport Warriors will head out to square off against the Mt. Markham Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Weedsport has 12 straight victories, Mt. Markham has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Weedsport got the win against Pulaski by a conclusive 9-3. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Seward made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Gabe Overend also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Mt. Markham might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to Adirondack, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Like Weedsport, Mt. Markham also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Plows. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Plows was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Owen Jones made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Weedsport's record is now 12-1. As for Mt. Markham, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Weedsport has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mt. Markham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
