Daniel is 8-2 against Walhalla since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Daniel Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Walhalla Razorbacks at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Daniel scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Crescent 85-27 at home. With Daniel ahead 51-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Daniel found their leader in underclassman Janiyah Wilson, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lila Mann, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Walhalla had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 75-34 win over Pendleton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Walhalla has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Walhalla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kami Roach, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marnie Baxter, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists.
The win got Daniel back to even at 9-9. As for Walhalla, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mann and Roach. Mann has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 12.5 points and 3.2 assists. For her part, Roach has averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 steals, and 3 assists.
Daniel took their win against Walhalla in their previous meeting on January 5th by a conclusive 63-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Daniel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
