The Perry Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Keshequa Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Perry was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Avon 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since May 18, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Beau Solcum, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Perry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Siewert, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Keshequa strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mount Morris a 14-0 shutout. That looming 14-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.
Chris Ebersole made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Ebersole was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Keshequa let Nathan Hillier and Owen Pike run wild. Hillier went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Pike went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Aiden Howe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Keshequa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Perry's record now sits at 4-5. As for Keshequa, their record is now 6-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Perry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Keshequa struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Perry suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Keshequa in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
