Quincy and Prosser are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Jackrabbits will host the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Quincy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Prosser will come in with four straight victories.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Quincy's offense. They came up short against Othello on Tuesday, falling 10-0.
Meanwhile, Prosser hadn't done well against Grandview recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Greyhounds. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Trevor Kreps made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Prosser: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Prosser got a massive performance out of Jacob Rainer, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Rainer a new career-high. Branden Clarke was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Prosser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Prosser's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Quincy came out on top in a nail-biter against Prosser in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Jackrabbits repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
