The Denver South Ravens will head out on the road to square off against the Vista PEAK Prep Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver South will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Denver South narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Rangeview 55-53.
It was another big night for Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Rhoades-martinez, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. Everything went their way against Thomas Jefferson as Vista PEAK Prep made off with a 71-46 victory. Given Vista PEAK Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vista PEAK Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Brown III led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Brown III has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alante Monroe-Elazier, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Denver South pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Denver South skirted past Vista PEAK Prep 56-54 when the teams last played back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Vista PEAK Prep's Kyree Polk, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Denver South still be able to contain Polk? There's only one way to find out.
