The Bandera BULLDOGS suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 58-34 walloping at the hands of Boerne. While losing is never fun, Bandera can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 720th, while Boerne is ranked 260th).
Despite the loss, Bandera had strong showings from Isaac Segura, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks, and Corben Gonzales, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Bryson Holden, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Casen Hoegemeyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Boerne, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Hoegemeyer's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Hendrix, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Bandera's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Boerne, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Wimberley the next time they take the court. Bandera will host Wimberley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Boerne will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
