After four games on the road, Powers Catholic is heading back home. They will take on the Dow Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Powers Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 matches -- so hopefully Dow likes a good challenge.
Powers Catholic can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. Everything went their way against Bay City Western as Powers Catholic made off with a 78-58 victory. Given Powers Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Bay City Western is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Javontae Ross was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-8 from deep and almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Connor Kelly was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dow's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 57-42 to Mt. Pleasant. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dow has scored all season.
Powers Catholic pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Dow, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Powers Catholic came up short against Dow in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 81-70. Will Powers Catholic have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
