The Phoenix Firebirds lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-50 walloping at the hands of Marcellus. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Phoenix has scored all season.
It was another big night for Will Burnett, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Marcellus. Another player making a difference was Will Kershaw, who scored 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Phoenix and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Marcellus, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will take on Jordan-Elbridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marcellus, they will be playing at home against Cazenovia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
