It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Crisp County Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 45-20 margin over Hephzibah. The result was nothing new for Crisp County, who have now won five matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.
Crisp County was led to victory by Hagan Slimp and Deshaun Fedd. Slimp threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns, while Fedd picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Fedd's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Hephzibah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Telly Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 38 yards and a touchdown on only two passes.
The win (which was Crisp County's third in a row) raised their record to 7-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Hephzibah, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Crisp County will head out on the road to face off against Mary Persons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mary Persons will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Hephzibah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
