The Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Trojans won the last time they faced the Calhoun County Saints, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler walked away with a 46-34 victory over the Saints. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hunter-Kinard-Tyler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tilayzia Youmans, who scored 17 points along with six steals. Youmans hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Akeira Blue, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Calhoun County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Takara Brown, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Raniya Tyler, who scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks.
Hunter-Kinard-Tyler's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. As for Calhoun County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunter-Kinard-Tyler will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Wagener-Salley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Trojans are ranked 116th). As for Calhoun County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Fighting Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Blackville-Hilda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
