The Gallatin Raptors will head out to face off against the Skyview Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Gallatin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Gallatin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Billings West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Raptors fell just short of the Golden Bears by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raptors have suffered since May 24, 2024.
Zoe Bassham made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Skyview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Great Falls 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted against the Bison since May 7, 2022.
Brooklyn Arce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Kacie Morris was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ruby Sheridan, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Gallatin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Skyview, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Skyview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gallatin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Skyview, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Gallatin's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gallatin took their victory against Skyview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 26-11 score. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
