The Pine Grove Cardinals suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 70-43 loss at the hands of Pottsville. While losing is never fun, Pine Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while Pottsville is ranked 169th).
Pottsville found their leader in underclassman Christian Alvarez, who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Watkins, who scored 11 points.
Pine Grove bumped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Pottsville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Pine Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Panther Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pottsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Tamaqua at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
