The Wink Wildcats will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Klondike Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th. Klondike took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wink, who comes in off a win.
Wink has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Buena Vista 46-14 on the road. Given Wink's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while Buena Vista is ranked 1368th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aizlyn Dewberry was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Wink's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Quiroz, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Klondike was beaten by Valley 58-29 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Klondike has scored all season.
Wink's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Klondike, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Wink took a serious blow against Klondike when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 56-26. Can Wink avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
