The North Tahoe Lakers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 58-48 victory over Battle Mountain. That's another feather in the cap for North Tahoe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
North Tahoe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cormac Springsteel led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Seth Hendricks, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Geovanni Ruvalcaba, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Ruvalcaba is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Blake Stuart was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
North Tahoe pushed their record up to 9-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Battle Mountain, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Tahoe will take on the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Yerington is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Battle Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Pershing County is ranked 93rd, while the Longhorns are ranked 68th).
