The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions lost against the Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. L.E.A.D. Academy took a 37-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pensacola Christian Academy. L.E.A.D. Academy has struggled against Pensacola Christian Academy recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
L.E.A.D. Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Peoples, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Kamryn Lay was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 15 rebounds and 3 steals.
Even though they lost, L.E.A.D. Academy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pensacola Christian Academy only pulled down seven.
Pensacola Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Mylee Trimble, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Coker, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
L.E.A.D. Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pensacola Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
L.E.A.D. Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Central at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Pensacola Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Gulf Breeze at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Gulf Breeze presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pensacola Christian Academy in Florida (Gulf Breeze is ranked 86th, while Pensacola Christian Academy is ranked 236th).
