The Oxford Prep Griffins typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the Franklin Academy Patriots proved too difficult a challenge. Franklin Academy enjoyed a cozy 67-50 win over Oxford Prep. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Franklin Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayes Lewis, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists. The contest was Lewis' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Young, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds.
Franklin Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Oxford Prep, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Academy will take on Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Oxford Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against East Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. East Wake Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
