The Sandalwood Saints will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Generals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandalwood is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, Sandalwood came up short against Atlantic Coast and fell 14-6.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Riverside at home against Andrew Jackson on Friday as the squad secured a 47-8 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-0.
Riverside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennvontae Sharrow out in front who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Sandalwood's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Raines and 6-2 Fletcher (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65% over those games). As for Riverside, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Sandalwood ended up a good deal behind Riverside when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 14-0. Can Sandalwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
