It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Abbeville Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 68-61 win over Edgewood Academy. Given Abbeville Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Edgewood Academy is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abbeville Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Jayden Buckhannon, who scored 28 points along with six assists and six steals. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Javarse Turner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwest Georgia STEM Charter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Webster County by a score of 64-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Southwest Georgia STEM Charter.
Abbeville Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Southwest Georgia STEM Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
