After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Walter Northway, the Minto Lakers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 60-21 win over Non Varsity Opponent at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Minto has posted yet this season.
Minto was led to victory by Ruth Fox and Jena Smith. Fox scored 18 points, while Smith scored 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Minto's points. Another player making a difference was Reese Gibson, who scored six points.
Minto now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 88-145 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minto will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Effie Kokrine Charter at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to square off against Snyder at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Snyder will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
