It was a good run, but the Bethel Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Benicia. While losing is never fun, Bethel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Benicia is ranked 129th).
Defeat or not, Bethel got some senior leadership from D. Stricklen and H. Howard. Stricklen scored 17 points, while Howard. scored 16 points.
Bethel's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Benicia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethel and Kennedy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Benicia will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Campolindo at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Campolindo will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
