The Borden County Coyotes will head out on the road to take on the Cornerstone Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Borden County scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They breezed by Petersburg at home to the tune of 86-39. Given Borden County's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Petersburg is ranked 698th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cornerstone Christian posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 88-41 victory over Hyde Park on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cornerstone Christian.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cornerstone Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yasmeen Schmidt, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. Schmidt hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Henning, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten assists.
Borden County's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.4 points. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.
