The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Western Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Tippecanoe Valley didn't have too much trouble with Winamac on the road as they won 44-30. Given Tippecanoe Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Winamac is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ava Egolf and Chesnee Miller were among the main playmakers for Tippecanoe Valley as the former scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and the latter scored 14 points along with seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Egolf has scored at least 25% of Tippecanoe Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlee Snyder, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, Western put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 70-30 victory over Clinton Prairie at home. Western might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 24 points or more this season.
Western got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mackenzie York out in front who scored 21 points along with five assists and four steals. Chloe Hunt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Tippecanoe Valley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Western, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Tippecanoe Valley came up short against Western in their previous meeting back in November, falling 44-37. Can Tippecanoe Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
