Opp is 0-10 against Geneva since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The two teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Opp has struggled recently with ten defeats in a row, while Geneva will arrive with seven straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Opp came up short against Pleasant Home and fell 45-34. Opp has not had much luck with Pleasant Home recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Opp's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Samaria Womack, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, and Kianna Barnes who scored five points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Barnes pulled down eight or more rebounds. TaKyra Crittenden was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Opp were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 37 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Geneva didn't have too much trouble with Samson on the road on Friday as they won 53-36.
Opp's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Geneva, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Opp was dealt a bruising 65-11 defeat at the hands of Geneva in their previous meeting last Tuesday. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Opp was down 43-5.
