Mt. Vernon/Plankinton may have come out ahead in their last contest, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. On Friday they take on Winner at 7:00 PM. Winner will need to watch out since Mt. Vernon/Plankinton have now posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Last week, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season. They took the match and then some with a 54-7 victory over Flandreau. With Mt. Vernon/Plankinton ahead 40-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up at the half for Winner and Valentine, but Winner stepped up in the second half. Winner got past Valentine with less than a touchdown to spare, ending up at 26-20.
Their wins bumped Mt. Vernon/Plankinton to 5-0 and Winner to 3-1. We'll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Mt. Vernon/Plankinton and Winner clash.
