After two games on the road, El Camino is heading back home. They will take on the Christian Brothers Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. El Camino will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 846th, while Christian Brothers is ranked 216th).
El Camino fought the good fight in their overtime match against Vista del Lago on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 53-50. El Camino has not had much luck with Vista del Lago recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, El Camino got a solid performance out of Demetrious Perry, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Justin Watts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Christian Brothers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against Del Campo by a score of 56-45.
El Camino has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Christian Brothers, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.
El Camino might still be hurting after the 65-40 loss they got from Christian Brothers in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Christian Brothers' Stephan Hewitt, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Now that El Camino knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
