The Avon Park Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 89-3 loss at the hands of DeSoto County. Avon Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-1.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeSoto County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keyara Montinat, who shot 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Montinat has scored at least 25% of DeSoto County's points. Janeris Bing was another key contributor, scoring 28 points along with four steals.
Avon Park's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for DeSoto County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park will take on Lake Placid at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
