4A Conference 13 recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Holly Springs, who defeated 90th ranked Fuquay-Varina, 27-21. Kelvin Wilson ran for 148 yards during the win.
Panther Creek extended the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 13 this week by beating Athens Drive, 28-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Ian Boyd provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Apex fell to Middle Creek. He completed 11 passes for 68 yards and also ran for 198 yards. Boyd's favorite target this week was Owen Pickard, who caught 6 passes for 22 yards.
John Politis put up the best numbers through the air as the Jaguars fell to Panther Creek. He had a total of 18 completions for 79 yards. Politis' favorite target this week was Mark Stallings, who caught 4 passes for 38 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Green Hope's Luke Massei and Elijah Murrane have proven to be a lethal combination. Massei has thrown for 1,281 yards this season, while Murrane has 39 catches for 484 yards. Dominique Lynch from Athens Drive leads the league in rushing with 737 yards.
The Mustangs are currently in third, while the Falcons are in second.
Middle Creek was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Mike Castellano's team vanquished the Cougars 21-7 earlier in the week.
